Northwest Missouri State University Low Brass Musicians are part of a vibrant campus community where musical opportunities are plentiful. At Northwest, students participate in performances of all types, regardless of major. Students who participate in music become members of a tight-knit supportive community, led by a cohesive unit of faculty and staff. It’s no wonder our students become important contributing members of their communities after graduation, especially in the arts. We work hard to foster a safe, diverse, equitable, and inclusive space where students can grow and develop as learners, musicians, and people.
Low Brass Related Opportunities
Students who participate in the low brass studio meet weekly throughout the semester in 1-on-1 lessons to refine their musical skills and abilities. Students also participate in a weekly studio class where they have opportunities to perform solo literature, chamber music, low brass ensemble repertoire, and discuss related topics. In addition, a weekly morning warm-up session provides the opportunity to work on fundamentals and technique while learning from peers and their studio professor. At Northwest, I also make it a priority to invite world class musicians from around the world to present recitals and masterclasses. Lastly, as a proponent of building community through the arts, low brass students are given opportunities to perform music across campus, throughout the Maryville community, and beyond.
