Music at NDSU

North Dakota State University trombonists are part of a vibrant campus community where musical opportunities are plentiful. At NDSU, students participate in performances of all types, regardless of major. Students who participate in music become members of a tight-knit supportive community, led by a cohesive unit of faculty and staff. It’s no wonder our students become important contributing members of their communities after graduation, especially in the arts. We work hard to foster a safe, diverse, equitable, and inclusive space where students can grow and develop as learners, musicians, and people.

Musical Opportunities

Students who participate in the trombone studio meet weekly throughout the semester in 1-on-1 lessons to refine their musical skills and abilities. Students also participate in a weekly studio class where they have opportunities to perform solo literature, chamber music, trombone ensemble repertoire, and discuss related topics. In addition, a weekly morning warm-up session provides the opportunity to work on fundamentals and technique while learning from peers and their studio professor. I also make it a priority to invite world class musicians from around the world to present recitals and masterclasses. Lastly, as a proponent of building community through the arts, trombone students are given opportunities to perform music across campus, throughout the Fargo community, and beyond.
