Dr. William Sutton
Dr. Sutton is Assistant Professor of Music at Northwest Missouri State University where he teaches low brass, music theory, and conducts the Northwest Concert band. He has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, Topeka Symphony, Classical Music Institute Orchestra of San Antonio, St. Joseph Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Northern New York, Holland Symphony, Capital City Brass Band, Capital Region Wind Ensemble, and Northern Symphonic Winds. He has experienced success competing in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival, advancing to the semifinals four times. In the summer of 2023, Will returned to the Falcone Festival as an adjudicator. Will has performed at the Midwest Regional Tuba and Euphonium Conference, International Tuba and Euphonium Conference, and as a soloist with many College and University ensembles.
In addition to his experience in large ensemble and solo settings, Will enjoys performing and collaborating in various chamber settings. He is a founding member of the SVSU faculty brass quintet, Great Lakes Tuba/Euphonium Quartet, and Duo LoW. He has also performed with the Michigan State University and SUNY Potsdam faculty brass quintets.
When Will is not fulfilling his duties at Northwest, he presents recitals, masterclasses, and clinics to high school and college students throughout the US. His teachers include Phillip Sinder, Ava Ordman, Charles Guy, Mark Hartman, Michael Wilkinson, and Michael Meidenbauer. Will is an Eastman/Shires/Willson Performing Artist and his solo playing can be heard under the Kendor Music, Inc. label.
